Read aloud when you are not in the room
Your child wakes up while you are at the dinner table or out and about. In the viewer you pick a story and the camera phone tells it through its speaker. The recordings are produced beforehand with an AI voice and stored on the server; the camera phone only plays them.
Fourteen stories, familiar and rare
You can choose from Brothers Grimm classics in a gentle version, such as The Frog Prince, The Star Money and The Elves and the Shoemaker. There are also lovely lesser-known tales: The Queen Bee, The Moon and The Golden Key, a very short tale that deliberately ends open. Andersen's Sandman, Ole Luk-Oie, is retold freely, and several original bedtime stories are written in fairy-tale style, for example about the little owl who did not want to sleep, the miller with his star mill, the turtle who carried the moon and the seven dwarfs with their one bed. Each story lasts four to nine minutes, and each one shows where it comes from.
Listen yourself first
With the headphone button you play any story on your own phone before your child hears it. You can jump to any position, wind 15 seconds forwards or back and see the running time. That way you can calmly check whether a story suits your child, whether you like the voice and whether anything exciting comes at the end. Listening only happens on your device and has nothing to do with the camera phone.
Upload your own recordings
You do not have to stick to my fairy tales. Under “My recordings” you upload your own files as MP3, M4A or OGG, for example a bedtime story you told yourself, a song or greetings from the grandparents. They behave like the fairy tales: you listen in beforehand, play them on the camera phone, put them in the playlist and see the evaluation. Each household can have ten files and 150 MB, up to 30 MB per file. The files are stored encrypted with your household, are not analysed and can be deleted at any time. Please only upload recordings you hold the rights to and that everyone who can be heard has agreed to.
Control it like a player
You can pause, skip to the next story and change the volume. With the playlist several stories play in a row, and with “Repeat” the list starts over. The sleep timer fades the story out quietly after 15 to 90 minutes, and “Stop” fades it out right away instead of cutting off. If someone speaks into the room with the talk button, the story gets quieter in the meantime.

The camera measures noise and movement as numbers anyway. VintageCam compares the ten minutes before the story with the ten minutes after it and tells you whether it was calmer, about the same or less calm, and how long it took to settle. Over time you see which story usually works for your child. While the story plays, the noise alarm is paused because the phone would otherwise hear itself; the motion alarm stays on.
The evaluation is a guide based on noise level and movement. VintageCam is not a medical device, makes no diagnosis and replaces neither medical advice nor your supervision of your child. A story is not a guarantee of sleep either.
Who is listening
No pictures, sounds or positions go to an AI service. The recordings were produced once beforehand; nothing is sent to the voice service while you use the app. Only the history of your playbacks with the evaluation is stored, for 180 days and 60 entries at most, and you can delete it at any time.
